El Paso County Arrest Records

One of the most important functions of some of the most powerful government agencies is their oversight function. This refers to said government agencies checking on the activities and the things that the agencies below them in the umbrella had done, and often the best way to do this is to depend on records. While this could be seen as a waste, the truth of the matter is oversight is required in order to ensure that the various agencies are doing what they are supposed to be doing. Of course, the records that are used for the oversight function are classified as public records, which means that the public could access the same, and over the course of the past few years, there has been an almost exponential growth of request for these records from the private citizen, and one of the more sought after and requested type of record are arrest records such as El Paso County Arrest Records.

Not every person would have an arrest record. This is because arrest records are made only after the person whom the records refer to had been arrested or a warrant ha d been issued with his name on it. Arrest records contain the criminal history of the person, and because of that, the person should actually do something criminal first before the record would be made. As was mentioned before, these records are public records, which means that not only are they easily available to the general public, they are also generally considered to be authentic. This means that the person claiming that what is written within the four corners of the record is false has the burden of proving the same.

One of the best places to request for arrest records would, of course, be the place where they came from in the first place, and this place is the office of the sheriff. As the primary law enforcement agency within the borders of the county, the sheriff and his deputies are tasked with serving warrants and because of this, they are the ones that are in the best position to make arrest records. A request for arrest records at the sheriff office begins with the searcher making a personal request at the records division of the sheriff office. The actual search would be conducted through a database where all the records within the sheriff office and indexed, but the clerk operating the machine would require the searcher to first provide some information regarding the documents that the searcher is interested in. The information provided would form the parameters of the search. Either way, once the records had been located, the searcher could request for copies of the same at one dollar per page of the record. Note that the sheriff could not certify a record.

Of course, for those who do not have the time nor the patience to fall in line or to even go to the office, there is another option, and that is to use online databases. There is currently no online database affiliated with the government, but this does not mean that the nonaffiliated databases could not provide the same information, because that is exactly what they do, albeit at a faster and more efficient way. In addition, most of these databases do not charge anything for the use of their data, and the search could be conducted by the user from within the comforts of his or her own room.
